Mensaje para Ubi de Kathi Jones / Message for Ubi from Kathy Jones
My Dear Friend Ubi,
You are in my heart and I think and pray for you often! How happy I am that you are doing better. You must work hard with the physical therapist so you can dance again! Remember our crazy dancing at the apartment? I couldn't speak Spanish and you couldn't speak English, but we had fun and danced in the kitchen! Remember our time in the elevator when we were acting so crazy talking about "you know who" ( Hint: He was a loco leader from where we both lived) You were my first friend in Caracas and i loved you as a dear friend from the very beginning. Please know that Joe and I love you very much and are grateful that our God is so big that He will help you through this. You also have a beautiful daughter and many friends who love you very much. I know that you are struggling and things are very hard but please know how many people are praying for you to get well. I'm sending you lots of love and hugs and will continue praying that your body will be whole again. Love you dear friend. Kathi

Ahora Ubi puede hablar por teléfono / Now Ubi can talk by phone
You can call Ubi in her room at the hospital at 57-1-603-0303, extension 4021A.
¡La sonrisa de Ubi ha vuelto! / Ubi’s smile is back!
Ubi moved from Intermediary Care to a room on Sunday, October 17. She stayed in Intermediary Care for only two days. Her vital signs were already stable, and she no longer required constant care. Yesterday, I witnessed Ubi’s famous smile for the first time since the surgery. She talked to me a lot and smiled and laughed too. I cried out of happiness and said, “my friend, Ubi, is finally back!”. For that reason, I was very happy yesterday and was thanking God for all he has done for Ubi. Now, Ubi has four sessions of physical therapy per day, and Lisbeth is pretty much with her all day every day. Ubi has a lot of pain all over her body, and it hurts her a lot just to change positions, so she doesn’t like her physical therapy much, but the doctors say that if she keeps moving, the pain will go away little by little. She can move the left side of her body ust a little and keeps working to be able to move that side. She still cannot chew or swallow, so she continues with therapy to help her with that. Please continue praying for Ubi that she improves soon in these areas. Ubi has her good days and bad days with respect to her mood, but she still continues improving. She is not used to depending on anyone, so this situation is quite difficult for her right now. Soon, I’m going to post the phone number in her room so that her friends and family may call her there. She doesn’t like to talk much right now, but she’d love to hear from her friends. It would be very encouraging for her. We want her to keep working hard so that she can leave the clinic walking!!!

Cuenta conmigo tu amigo siempre.
Te Amo,
Senor Randy

Ubi se muda de Cuidados Intensivos! / Ubi moves out of Intensive Care!
This afternoon, Ubi moved from Intensive Care to Intermediary Care (not sure what this is called in English). She is talking a bit more and is even more alert. Her face and eye on the right side are not as swollen today as they were before. They are doing physical therapy with her twice per day. She is still unable to move her body on the left side, but the doctor reminds us that we have to have patience and that her recuperation may be a long process. Please keep praying for Ubi’s recuperation that it may be complete and fast. Thanks to all those who continue praying for Ubi.

El Camino de Recuperacion / The Road to Recovery
Ubi is doing well considering that it's only been two days since the neurosurgery. She is breathing on her own, trying to speak, moving her body, and she's even eaten jello. But, the recovery process is going to require a lot of patience. One side of her face is very swollen, and she cannot move the opposite side of her body. She tries to speak, but it's difficult to understand her. Her doctor says that all of this is normal under the circumstances. The aneurysm was touching a nerve before the surgery, and it was causing problems with her vision in one eye. It got worse during the surgery, but the doctor says it will probably get better with time. The doctor estimates that she will be in the clinic for another month. It's difficult for Lisbeth to see her mom like this. Please keep praying for Ubi and Lisbeth. Thanks to all who are following the blog. And thanks for your prayers.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Gracias al Senor! / Thank the Lord!
The neurosurgeon came out a bit ago to tell us that the surgery went very well. We are so thankful and we know without a doubt that God responded to our prayers today.

Ubencia Micolta Obando, everyone knows her as Ubi, was born in San Jose, Tapaje, Charco Nariño Cali, Colombia on February 8th, 1955. She has an incredible personality. She’s very active, and no matter what happens, she always has a huge smile on her face. She’s optimistic, an ideal person to give advice, because she always has something positive to say to you. She’s a great friend, and a wonderful mother - I would say the best in the world. She never left her children in need. Even though she lost her son about 6 years ago, she was able to move on with her daughter. She works and lives for her, and the two have always been together. They always support each other in everything they do, and her daughter considers her to be her best friend and a blessing from God to have such an awesome mother. She doesn’t let anything stop her, and even today, in spite of her current situation, she continues to fight for her life.
